img_7043 The spaces of representation are a species of the public space where mostly the commercial and administrative forces make their presence felt, spatially as well as visually dominating the territory, but where, paradoxically, conflicting situations, public resilience acts, subversive claims or just manifestations of local survival appear, making a lively and authentic public space. In the urban context of Victory Square in Timişoara, the workshop’s aim was to question, on site, the everyday manifestations of concepts like control and liberty, banality and representation or individual and common.

dsc_0857In just few days, each team managed to complete a one-to-one sketch of a proposal. The installations engaged the circumstances where they were inserted, and they temporarily modified the usages and the perceptions of the passer-byes. Either by their novelty, their practical use or just engaging a dialogue - the picnic, the feeding of the pigeons and the discourse of a clown, the real dialogue in the public space, including with the mayor, and the infiltration of the guerrilla furniture - the interventions practiced the public space, provoking situations impossible to foresee in the proposal phase.
