The workshop investigated areas found in the vicinity of some representational public spaces, places with a diffuse and ambiguous identity, placed at the periphery of the mental geography of the inhabitants. These anonymous territories function as transit and connection spaces, suspended between landmarks of the center and the rest of the city.

In the framework of the workshop we’ve tested on the spot ways of figure out the character and potential of such a species of public space, by actions of exploring, debating and lectures, followed by days of production, installation and organizing of a final event. Managed by the participants themselves, the event ‘Beyond Lăpuşneanu’ welcomed in the morning kids and parents to bring life into a playing corner of a green area bare of any public furniture. In the afternoon we’ve embarked into a walk around the flats, the passages, the places, its people and their stories, where we discovered from the drawings on the children stair, to the wish fountain, or the ruins of the iron castle and the invisible museum and the household of books, until the good hosts along the way. The day ended behind the Republica cinema, where ‘Those magnificent men and their flying machines’ - the movie that inaugurated the cinema back in 1958 - transformed the backdoor area in an open air amphitheater welcoming passersby, guests or neighbors from nearby flat
